Just five kilometers north of Dominical, a private reserve called Hacienda Barú is one of the many attractions offered to explore by Costa Rica Surf Camp. Home to more than tree hundred species of fabulous birds, anteaters, sloths, iguanas, wild cats and monkeys you can take your time to walk on the trails on your own or with a tour guide.
Reveled trails with cocoa plantation and thick forest, part of the reserve is located on the beach, along with the Baru River to the south side and the mangrove swamps to the north side. Don’t be surprised when you are observing the mangrove and the tide is rising, a crocodile comes up to say “what’s up!”
