Sunset Surf camp in Dominical Costa Rica really lives up to its name. They like to have all of their surf campers watch at least one sunset from the ocean. Depending on the tides many of the clients are fortunate to surf every afternoon and enjoy numerous sunsets while surfing in the warm Costa Rican waters. It’s a feeling and experience that only a surfer can explain when that sun melts into the horizon as you are paddling your surfboard for that last wave to ride to shore. As seen in this photo they were surfing at sunset and didn’t get out of the water until it was dark. These clients loved the fact that they were able to have this experience that many will never have in their life enjoying a Costa Rican sunset from the surf!
The crowds may be thin at sunset in the water however the beach in Dominical will be lined with tourists and locals alike enjoying a drink and a good chat with friends. Dominical town is a place where you can strike up a conversation with almost anyone and usually the topic of conversation is “surf”. Stories of the waves the people caught that day or that one turn or drop that they stuck which made their day. Some talk about that one big wipe out, that barrel they came out of, or just how much fun they had surfing, once you learn to surf the stories never end and will be with you a lifetime.
At Dominical beach you can literally catch your last wave, ride it to the beach walk into the bar soaking wet, with your surfboard in hand and get a beer! I would like to know how many places in the world where you can do this!
